If you’d like to check in around your relationship with meth and PnP discreetly, we’ve created a set of questions to guide you through this.

This tool is designed for people who PnP that are looking to understand if their drug use is impacting on other areas of their life, or who are looking to make changes to their use.

There are 19 questions in this self-reflection, and it will take you about 10 minutes to complete. While you’re completing this tool, think of your most recent experiences around sex and drugs or party ‘n ‘play to develop a sense of how things are going for you right now.

Please answer each question with a Yes/No/Not sure, and keep a record of your answers for the end.

Values and behaviour

  • I missed activities that are important for me (e.g. seeing friends/family or doing hobbies) because of my drug use.
  • My ability to perform day to day tasks or meet my responsibilities (e.g. work, studying, appointments) has been affected because of my drug use.
  • I have spent more on drugs recently than I am happy with.
  • People have told me they are worried about my drug use.

Intimacy

  • I have found it difficult to form the kind of relationships I want.
  • I find it difficult to have sex or be intimate with other people without using drugs.
  • I feel like I can only have the type of sex that I want (e.g. kink, sex with other men) when I am using drugs.
  • I feel like I don’t have opportunities to connect with other people outside of using drugs together and having sex.

Wellbeing

  • I have been concerned about the amount of time I currently spend using or recovering from using drugs.
  • I have used more drugs than I planned to (e.g. when I had not planned to, using more during a session, or sessions lasting longer than planned).
  • I have recently thought about making changes to my drug use (e.g. reducing harm, cutting down, or stopping).
  • I have used drugs in places or with people where I have felt unsafe.
  • I have felt paranoid and/or heard things that were not there after using drugs.
  • I have felt irritable, unable to think straight, depressed or fragile in the days after using drugs.

Sexual health

  • My sexual needs are not being met from the sex I have when using drugs.
  • My emotional needs are not being met from the sex I have when using drugs.
  • When using drugs, I have had sexual experiences that I am not comfortable with.
  • I have felt that using drugs during sex was not worth how I feel in the days after.
  • My ability to have safe sex (e.g. taking PrEP/DoxyPEP/HIV Medications or using condoms) has been affected by my drug use.

Take note of each question you've answered "Yes" to - these indicate an area of your life where you may want to explore making changes.

These questions were just for you, with an aim to help you reflect on your situation without any expectation to take action. Drug use can bring you pleasure, that’s often why we use, but sometimes it can impact on areas of life in ways we don’t like or expect.  If you’d like to explore your options around making changes:
